Summer Learning Journey
First Activity
Groovy Man
Activity 1 : Ready To Roll
After reading this I felt very curious because I couldn't watch the videos because they were blocked. This talks about a TV show that broadcasts on Saturdays.
Activity 2 : Bell Bottom Pants
The 1970's fashion was quite unique. I like the girls skirts and t-shirt style. I also like how the men look so official. I'm not a huge fan of the men patterned pants though. I also dislike the girls pants because I'm not into that kind of style.
I'll be posting my next activity soon.

Talofa Lava blogging world,
On Monday the whole school had a fun day/wheels day. It was a very hot day but everyone had fun. There were games, a water slide, the pool and a free wheels time session. We were in 3 groups and rotated around so we could try everything. Wheels were optional. We also played two different games in our groups with the teachers. We played capture the flag ( it was actually a ball ) and T-Ball.

2017 Netball Fiasco
Hello blogging world,
On Wednesday the 27th in term 3 the netball team had a little party/prize giving. We had a blast. It started at 6:00 and ended around 6:30. We had lollies, pizza, drinks, coloured popcorn, music and there were heaps of awards. Kayci ( one of my friends and an amazing netball player ) got player of the season! She really deserved it because she works really hard during netball games and training. There were heaps of other awards, you can find out in the slide below. I got 2 awards and everyone got a badge. One was for playing on Saturday's and the other one was for playing in zones.
I'm really happy we had a prize giving/party for our netball team. I am really proud of what we have achieved. If you want to find out our scores you can find out in my other blog post further down. I loved playing netball and representing. Be sure to check out my other netball post too. I'm really sad that it's now over but I really enjoyed the seasons. Feel free to comment and check out the rest of my learning. Blog you later!

Preparation For The Gala Day
Hello blogging world,
I'm back with another exciting blog post. This term we have been working really hard for our Gala Day. It would be great if you could come along to the Gala day. The Waikowhai Primary Schools Gala day is on the 25th of November. Manukau ( my class ) are making recycled paper. We learned how to make recycled paper and started to make Christmas and Birthday cards to sell on the day. We are also making seed bombs. Our Gala day is based on sustainability. Here are the instructions for making recycled paper below.
What you will need:
Ripped paper, water, big container, window screen, photo frame, paper towels, bag and something to mix with/hand mixer.
How to make recycled paper
Step 1. Getting Ready
First we have to rip up heaps of paper that have been already used and put it into a bag.
Step 2. Making the pulp
Next we make pulp. Place some paper in a bucket, about half way. Pour the same amount of water in. Mix it together with a mixer or potato masher. Keep on going until it feels all mushed up and
Step 3. Making the paper
Tip the pulp into a big container. Pour some water in ( it doesn't matter whether it's cold or hot). Put the window screen in between the two frames. Hold it tight. Put it in the water mixture and scoop some paper out. Carefully take the window screen out and flip it upside down onto a cleaning towel. Slowly peel the window screen of and allow your paper to dry. When it is dried you are done!
Here is a presentation below!
It's easy making recycled paper. The hard part is making enough cards to sell at the Gala day. We have also made some posters to hang around the school. I really enjoy making recycled paper and making Christmas cards too. I can't wait until the Gala Day! Feel free to comment and check out the rest of my learning!

Maths Fun
Hello blogging world,
For the past few weeks for maths we had to use our imagination because we got given a math challenge. We pretended that we were going on a 11 day vacation. We had to book flights, caravans, hotels and ferries. It has all the places I went to and how much it costs. Have a look at my work below.
I learnt that the fun things are the most expensive. I enjoyed doing all the activities in this slide. My total cost was $4470.69!
Most of my friends spent more. Feel free to comment down below and look at the rest of my learning!

My Awesome Novel Study
Hello blogging world,
In the past few weeks we have been working on a book review. We go to choose a book out of 2. My options were Cool Nukes and Sunken Forest both by Des Hunt. I chose Sunken Forest because I it looked really interesting. It took me a while to read the whole book but I got there. The story was about a boy named Matt. He moves to his Nana's house because his Farther is in prison. Along the way he meets heaps of problems. Find out how it ends in the book...
Have a look at my book review down below!
This is my 3rd book review that I have completed so I got the hang of it easily. I was able to finish all the activities in the slides. It was kind of hard completing all the activities in time. It was easy finding the time to finish of since I take my chromebook home. Feel free to comment down below and have a look at the rest of my learning.

Novel Study
Hello Blogging world,
for the past 2 weeks we have been working on a Book Review / Novel Study. I had to read the book Sunken Forest by Des Hunt. We were asked to do a slide and complete all the activities on it. I haven't finished the book yet but I'm nearly there. I haven't completed all the activities yet but here is on of the activities from a slide. Further below is a picture of the book if you were wondering.
I really like this book so far and I definitely think that you should read it. This book is for people who love adventure. It was kind of hard finding the time to read it but I'm almost there. It was easy doing the activities because I was really into the book and I enjoyed it too. Comment down below if you have read this book or if you are interested and don't forget to check out the rest of my learning below.

Music And Dance
Hello blogging world,
for the past few weeks we have been working extremely hard on dance and music. We first got into groups of 4 to 8. I had a group of 8. These people were in my group: Abby, Sky, Nethya, Hilary, Sam, Amie and Darlene. You can check out their blogs too. On Wednesday we had to perform it in front of Te Waka Ako. I am really proud of the dance we made up together. There were 14 groups and only 3 groups get to perform it in assembly. Here is a video of my dance below.
It was hard coming up with the dance but it turned out great. I was nervous when we had to perform it but fine when it was over. Feel free to comment down below and check out the rest of my learning!

The Crazy Science Show
Kia Ora blogging world,
Today our school had one bizarre scientists named Richard and one spectacular girl DJ named Robin. They came to our school to do a crazy science show. The show was based on chemicals. They started with simple magic tricks to warm us up like: red pom poms coming out of his mouth.
He then started the show with the old connecting rings trick and then some amazing rocket work. After that trick, he showed us how baby nappies work. He took out some powder from a baby nappy and mixed it with yellow water (pee). It then turned into a solid straight away.
My favourite part of the show was when he made a massive bubble. Some of his tricks were dangerous. I loved the science show! I was surprised that a ping pong ball can float in the air with a hair drying and won't fall if the hair dryer moves around. I'm definitely going to try some at home. I learnt that wheat can't be lit up with fire. I wonder what the size is of the biggest bubble in the world. I now want to find out more about science.

My Camp Booklet
Hi bloggers, last week the most of the year 5's and 6's went on an exciting camp to Mt Ruapehu. We had a choice of snowboarding and skiing. I chose snowboarding. We had so much fun. We stayed at a hotel 30 minutes away from the mountain. We stayed there for 4 days and 3 nights. We also had other stops like the aquatic centre, Hamilton gardens and other fun activities. Along the way we had some challenges. One of my challenges were trying not to lose my things because I am a very messy person. Check out my slide underneath.
At camp on Wednesday it was also my 11th birthday. I felt overwhelmed by the cake and mini party my friends threw for me. During camp I felt nervous because I haven't snowboarded before and it looked hard. Once I got the hang of it I was having the time of my life. I'm really happy I went and I hope that someday I can go again.Feel free to comment!

Our Visiting Poet:Judi Billcliff
About 3 weeks ago a famous poet came to our school for a visit. Her name is Judi Billcliff. She read us some of her best selling books and did some plays with us. Judi came because it was book week at our school and we were looking at poetry. We also had a poetry competition. Some people volunteered to join a play. Judi Billcliff is a really funny poet. Below are some photos of us having fun and bonding with Judi.
We had heaps of fun with Judi. We learnt heaps about her and her background. If you would like you can visit one of her websites at http://www.rainbowpoetry.co.nz/ . Please feel free to comment and check out the rest of my learning blog!

Building a Tent Model
Hi bloggers,
yesterday for maths we had to build a tent model out of tooth picks and modelling clay. Our task was to build a small tent model with shapes. I used a rectangle, squares and trapezoids. I also built a little camp fire.
During the making of this I had problems. One of the problems was that my model kept on falling down because the modelling clay wasn't holding the tooth picks together in place. I found out that after a while the model collapsed because of the modelling clay.
This is my model!
I found it hard trying to make it stable so it doesn't fall. I think my shape was really good and strong. You also needed to be very focused and patient. Overall I think I did really well and I had great shapes. I would love it if you left a comment and checked out the rest of my learning blog!

Cybersmart Comic Strip
Hi bloggers, last week in Cybersmart we were learning how to be safe and sensible online. First we had to get into groups of 2 or 3. Next we had to create a comic strip showing what not to do and showing how to fix it. We also had to organise our email uses. The categories were : appropriate for school account, appropriate for own account and inappropriate. After that we wrote a statement saying why we should or shouldn't have our emails. Have a look and feel free to comment!

My Pick A Path Story
My Pick A Path Story
Last week I made this pick a path story. We based it on a character that we made up. My character was called Wild Flyer. When you read you have to make a choice of where you want to go. My story is called Lost because she gets lost in the deepest and darkest part of the woods and you have to help her escape.
I learnt how to make a pick a path story using google slides. Next time I think about choosing the right background for the colour of my text. Feel free to comment and check out the rest of learning by scrolling down!

In Cybersmart we had to make a thinglink about us. First we used this website called BeFunky. We changed how we look and saved it. Next we went onto thinglink and added facts about us. Have a look at my thinglink.
This was easy because I already know how to use BeFunky and Thinglink. I chose these videos because I like both of them. Feel free to comment and check out the rest of my learning.

De Bono thinking hats
Hello blogging world,
today I am going to be talking about our new classrooms also know as the ILE ( innovative learning environment). Our WALT : Use De Bono thinking hats to show an understanding. Our buildings are called Te Waka Ako which means the canoe of learning. We had a huge opening ceremony. We had the Kapa Haka group come up and do a dance and we had Mr Wood officially open our new building. We were asked to fill in six thinking hats about our new building. Check out my hats.
Ms Sands did an awesome job on the sign. In the 6 thinking hats I learnt how I actually felt about the classrooms which is overwhelmed and excited. I never really thought about the privilege that I get to be in the new classrooms. One of my challenges are taking off my shoes because I wear sport shoes and it's really annoying. I think that we work together a lot now and I really like it because I like working as a syndicate. Feel free to check out the rest of my learning and leave a comment.

Narrative Character Description
Hello blogging world, last week we went on a site called build your wild self and we made a half human, half creature animal. My creature is human / animal creation is called Wild Flyer. We then made a Y - chart and described the characters looks, actions and characteristics. Here's my Y - chart description below. ⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇
Here is my character description...
Wild Flyer
Wild Flyer has long monkey arms that stick out from the side of her body. Big eagle wings appear from behind her body . She has huge dog ears that are black, white and covered in fur. Her long, stripy meerkat tail is hardly noticeable because of her wings. She has short brown lion legs that can sometimes scare people off. Also apart of her are antlers, that fall of when they're old but can luckily grow back. Wild Flyer is not a normal creature!
With her wings she can glide high in the sky like other eagles. She loves playing with her monkey arms because they help her swing across from branch to branch. Wild Flyer can hang upside down by the help of he tail. Luckily that’s not all! She races cheaters and wins but she doesn't like to brag. By the support of her strong antlers, she can fight all her nasty prey. She can hear a whisper 500km away. She has eyes like bats so she can see in the dark.
Wilder Flyer is so cheeky. She is the best pranker I know. She definitely has a big appetite. Wild Flower is really wild and sometimes she goes into the jungle but I always know she will come back to me. She always does. Her monkey dance makes me laugh all the time. Sometimes she can look fierce and scary but actually she is not. She is cheerful, enthusiastic, confident, funny and cheeky but also a really good friend to me.
Thank you for reading my post. Please feel free to leave a comment and read the rest of my learning!
