Preparation For The Gala Day

Hello blogging world,
I'm back with another exciting blog post. This term we have been working really hard for our Gala Day. It would be great if you could come along to the Gala day. The Waikowhai Primary Schools Gala day is on the 25th of November. Manukau ( my class ) are making recycled paper. We learned how to make recycled paper and started to make Christmas and Birthday cards to sell on the day. We are also making seed bombs. Our Gala day is based on sustainability. Here are the instructions for making recycled paper below.

What you will need:
Ripped paper, water, big container, window screen, photo frame, paper towels, bag and something to mix with/hand mixer.
How to make recycled paper
Step 1. Getting Ready
First we have to rip up heaps of paper that have been already used and put it into a bag.
Step 2. Making the pulp
Next we make pulp. Place some paper in a bucket, about half way. Pour the same amount of water in. Mix it together with a mixer or potato masher. Keep on going until it feels all mushed up and
Step 3. Making the paper
Tip the pulp into a big container. Pour some water in ( it doesn't matter whether it's cold or hot). Put the window screen in between the two frames. Hold it tight. Put it in the water mixture and scoop some paper out. Carefully take the window screen out and flip it upside down onto a cleaning towel. Slowly peel the window screen of and allow your paper to dry. When it is dried you are done!

Here is a presentation below!

It's easy making recycled paper. The hard part is making enough cards to sell at the Gala day. We have also made some posters to hang around the school. I really enjoy making recycled paper and making Christmas cards too. I can't wait until the Gala Day! Feel free to comment and check out the rest of my learning!
Blog you later!
